The Opportunity

Maintenance Officer – Riverina Region

Located: NSW – Wagga Wagga
Type: Permanent / Full Time
Salary: $76,376.55 – $81,906.75 per year
 
  • This is a practical, hands-on role – not just contractor coordination
  • 35-hour week + monthly RDO + tool of trade vehicle

Argyle Housing is seeking a Maintenance Officer to support the maintenance and asset management of properties across the Riverina region, with primary coverage across:

  • Wagga Wagga
  • Albury area
  • Leeton
  • Griffiths

 

This is a highly autonomous and hands-on role working across a geographically dispersed portfolio of residential, social, and affordable properties. The role combines contractor management, property maintenance coordination, inspections, WHS oversight, and stakeholder engagement.

The successful candidate will work closely with Tenancy Officers, Client Support Specialists, contractors, suppliers, and local operational teams to ensure properties remain safe, compliant, well-maintained, and fit for purpose for tenants and communities.

What The Role Involves

The Maintenance Officer position is broad and operationally varied.

Responsibilities include:

Property & Maintenance Management

  • Coordinating responsive and planned maintenance works
  • Managing vacant property upgrades and turnaround works
  • Conducting property inspections and identifying maintenance requirements
  • Monitoring maintenance budgets and contractor performance
  • Supporting capital upgrades and improvement projects
  • Undertaking minor maintenance works where required

 

Contractor & Stakeholder Management

  • Managing relationships with contractors and suppliers
  • Ensuring contractors comply with WHS and service standards
  • Monitoring turnaround times, quality, and value for money
  • Supporting procurement and contractor panel management

 

WHS, Compliance & Risk

  • Ensuring compliance with WHS requirements

  • Supporting psychosocial safety and workplace wellbeing
  • Contributing to risk management and safety improvements
  • Ensuring maintenance works align with organisational policies and standards

 

Community & Client Focus

  • Supporting vulnerable tenants and communities respectfully and professionally
  • Working collaboratively with tenancy and support teams
  • Understanding the impact of housing instability, trauma, mental health, DFV, disability, and social disadvantage on tenants and communities

 

What Argyle Housing Is Looking For

This role would suit someone who is practical, organised, emotionally intelligent, and comfortable balancing operational maintenance responsibilities with a community-focused approach.

Ideal experience includes:

  • Trade or building-related experience or qualifications
  • Property maintenance or facilities experience
  • Contractor coordination and supplier management
  • Residential property maintenance knowledge
  • Ability to work autonomously across multiple sites and regions
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills – both internally and externally
  • Understanding of WHS and risk management principles
  • Experience working in social housing, community housing, property, facilities, or community services environments (highly regarded)
  • Someone who enjoys talking with tenants, understanding property-related issues, and putting a proactive plan in place to help resolve and enable good housing outcomes

 

Essential requirements include:

  • Current White Card
  • Current Australian Driver’s Licence
